Why Patient Education Is More Important Than Ever

It’s an understatement to say that the pandemic has changed nearly every aspect of life. Medical aesthetics providers throughout the country have witnessed its impact on their businesses. Yet, while aesthetic clinics are facing numerous challenges, this time also presents an opportunity to connect with patients through a variety of virtual strategies.

Stay Connected with Webinars

Webinars are a great way to stay connected with patients and attract new ones to your business. These videos could be used to educate viewers about aesthetic practices, teach them simple at home treatments, or demonstrate new devices. Consider topics that may appeal to those who are be unable to visit your office. For example, you might create a webinar or host an Instagram Live on easy skin care regimens. Alternatively, you could perform self-massage techniques that improve circulation and reduce stress, or offer a Q&A session that debunks myths about medical aesthetic procedures.

Explain the “Why” to Patients

When patients understand the “why” and “how” behind aesthetic procedures, they may become more comfortable opting for treatment. Make education a priority, both in terms of what clients should and should not do when caring for their skin and body at home. For instance, some people may try a facial mask or other store-bought skin care remedy. Are there any products that are dangerous or may damage skin? Give patients recommendations so they can avoid at-home mishaps.

Consider Your Social Media Strategy

Consider how your practice stays in touch with patients. Do you have a regular newsletter? Are you active on social media? This might be a great opportunity to review your marketing strategy to see whether it can be expanded or improved. People are spending more time online in general, so take advantage of this time to educate patients and address their most common questions. The key is to make the information accessible and simple to understand. Encourage “sharing” and be sure to respond promptly to any comments you receive via social media.

Play Up Your Practice’s Offerings

At-home beauty routines can only do so much. Current and prospective patients have aesthetic goals that may only be achieved more effectively via medical aesthetic treatments. With that in mind, promote any non-invasive procedures that involve relatively simple post-care protocols as a safer alternative to surgical options. For example, Venus Concept offers an array of non-invasive medical aesthetic devices designed with patients’ safety in mind. Our machines use technologies such as diode lasers, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), nanofractional radio frequency, and multi-polar radio frequency and pulsed electromagnetic fields.
